I Left My Heart on the Monon High Bridge

Image
Every time I see Libby and Abby’s faces I get a lump in my throat. And every time I have to watch this lawyer dance in Indiana I get a rage in my heart. The American criminal justice system is as useless as the tits on a boar hog!   How many of you have ever been to a circus? Not a carnival in some supermarket parking lot, but a real circus? I have. In Shreveport, Louisiana in 1961 when I was ten years old. It was grand. It was in the Louisiana Auditorium down on Greenwood Road. Before the festivities start all the performers are displayed, marching around the three rings? Ever wonder why there are three rings?  So the audience can be entertained by three acts at the same time! It’s like going to a concert and having Taylor Swift, Puff Daddy, and Willie Nelson all on separate stages singing their asses off! The parade begins with an organ player. And not some electric keyboard. A pipe organ, with blue and red smoke shooting up out of the pipes. And so...

Like a Record Made of Wax

Image
The America you knew and loved is gone, and like a record made of wax, it’s never coming back! Boy! That hurts, don’t it? I mean, not as bad as sitting on a bicycle without a seat, but right on up there in the top five.    The last vestige of “America the Beautiful” ended at noon on November 22, 1963 when the shots rang out in Dallas. Camelot fell that day, and all of the illusions of what was and what could have been fell with it. There is a saying that everyone living that day could remember exactly where they were when they learned that President Kennedy was dead. I was walking down a hall, returning from the nurse at Nolan Junior High and was directly beneath the intercom when the principal made the announcement. Class was dismissed that day, and really, it was never reconvened.    And the men who killed our president gained control of America. And we were fed lies about the Gulf of Tonkin in a place most of us couldn’t find on the map, but by the time it ...

From Ex to Next

Image
When my first wife walked out on me I said, “Hon, take any ol’ thing you please ‘Cause I don’t want you to be upset at all!” Well, she took the rug, and the Christmas tree  The washing machine and the DVDs And then she took the paint right off the walls       I’m pretty good at getting married. I’m REAL good at getting left, and a master of one of the equations of life. God laid out the universe with mathematical precision. The whole shebang, or Big Bang, if you will is set upon 614. Look that number up. Then look up 6.14. Then make coffee. You gonna be there for a while.   Everything from the circumference of a circle to the dimensions of a pretty face all falls back to 614. Therefore, I have searched for the equation to relationships, or the lack thereof and have arrived at the sequence. (EX) + (N+T) = NEXT. As you can plainly see NEXT > EX. And, by applying the theory of quantum physics where particles can exist for a nanosecond it can be used to re...

Thoughts in a Walmart on a Sunday Afternoon

Image
I enjoy observing the human condition. I found it a very fascinating thing just watching people just coming out of the Walmart or some H-E-B anywhere.  The people, all makes and models, especially the kids, just to watch how they act as they experience life with all its twists and turns. Paying particular attention to the women and their husbands, but other than that I try to keep everything on a simple mode of observation.    They all seem to have someplace to go, even when they’re walking into a Walmart they have a plan of action.  Well, the men usually have a plan of action. Go in, buy, and just leave. Especially if it’s a Sunday and they’re waiting for the clock to strike twelve and buy beer. Makes one wonder if, instead of a McDonald’s, there was a bar instead. Nothing fancy. A few tables, seventy-five-inch TV on the wall and bowls of peanuts. It has to be peanuts if for no other reason but to keep the liberals out.     Now women ...

Their Name is Legion

Image
.     And he asked him, What  is  thy name? And he answered, saying, My name  is  Legion: for we are many.   I study serial killers. The psychotic, sociopathic monsters that prowl our darkest streets and wilderness areas searching for prey among our weakest and most precious members of society. And I don’t find them fascinating, or interesting. I’m not looking for a cure. What an oxymoron. To find a “cure” for a monster who kills a teenage girl and has sex with her dismembered head for weeks until he can no longer stand the smell?  What kind of twelve step program fits him?    No! I look for common strands in the psychopathy so we, the prey, can identify these animals and dispense of them  before  the exact the cost that no one wants to pay pay. By any means necessary!    And that, too, is an oxymoron. If we kill the monsters do we, then, become the monsters?  That is indeed a degradation of soci...

The Wild Mustang, Tongue

Image
Proverbs 25:9-10 “Don't reveal the SECRET of another, lest anyone who hears it reproach you, and the EVIL report about you not pass away.” Do you want to know who are the most PROLIFIC?  Are you sitting down?  Church Folk!!!  That’s right…those self-appointed…know it all…holier than thou sewing-circle Commanders…whispering such things as, “Did you hear about Sister Sharon’s husband?  Really?  Well…keep this within our circle…but I heard that he’s been spending way too much time golfing with those men from City Reach Church!!!” Ha, ha, ha…I’m one of “THOSE” guys from City Reach.  Relax…I’m only writing this for a friend that just happens to be from another Church. One of the clever ploys that Devil always uses on gullible people…the art of GOSSIP.  Just one little spark of GOSSIPING can lead to a raging fire of character assassination, depression, isolationism…and scandalous JUDGMENT against an innocent person. Don’t be fool when someone from the...

Tortilla Politics and the New Texas

Image
Tortilla Politics in the New Texas    I grew up in a Mexican village. Simmonsville. How, you may ask does a Mexican village end up with a name like “Simmonsville?” Well, it was full of, well, Mexicans. Now I know the Woke Folks will take exception to my use of the word “Mexicans,” but hear me out.    We didn’t have “Illegals.” The word, “illegal” implies that something or someone is “illegal.” A citizen of the Republic of Mexico who comes to pick fruits and vegetables during harvest time is  not “illegal.”  He’s a “National!” He resides in the Nation of Mexico unless he’s picking said avocados in Uvalde. Then he is a  national.  And Simmonsville was chock  full  of  Nationals.    If you live around a lot of Mexicans, you tend to eat a lot of Mexican food. They don’t dine on Crêpes Suzette. They think Suzette is some gringo chick from Dallas with a rich daddy. The eat anything with a tortilla, beans, and cheese. I re...
