What is Truth
What Is Truth?
Truth is subjective. And what is subjective? Subjective is your intellectual application to facts or events as perceived by you at any moment in time. And everyone’s subjective consciousness is different.
This is why the legendary “eye witness” is unreliable. Whose eyes? A six-year-old schoolgirl or a retired police officer? Or the video evidence. Again. Whose eyes? Live at the time or “live” on tape, sometimes for years from the event. Truth eventually will come down to human understanding. The eyes have it.
The farther this understanding is removed from the original explanation, the fewer and fewer believe or accept the new understanding. When even the very language itself is in flux complete understanding is a bridge too far. One dog in Greek can be two different dogs depending upon if said dog is inside or outside the house. Google it!
Gender to a Baby Boomer means man, woman, and nervous sheep. Gender to a Z Generation inhabitant can lead to any number of possible conclusions. A man, a woman, a woman-man, a cat a newborn yet twenty-year-old “baby,” anything.
For a Zer picking up a date on the internet contains the same connotations as scoring a one-night stand in a bar does to a Boomer. I guess that’s where “Bada Bing Bada Boom” comes from. While in actual fact there can only be two models (gender) the Z understanding of all the possibilities about if you are riding a Ford, or a Mercedes. And depending upon that brand the Z understanding will assign their definition of “gender” while the Boomer says that a car is a car is a car.
And this rationale applies to all explanations of all existing situations. Even in an old West Texas gunfight. The understanding of who drew first as to what provocation will weigh heavily on the coroner’s court. In a current case in Killeen, Texas a man is on trial for shooting up a SWAT team that kinda kicked in the wrong door, forcing the inhabitant therein to believe he was acting in self-defense. Did the police shout, “POLICE” or did it matter? After eleven years in the county jail awaiting trial does any of it matter. And a dollar to a donut everyone’s perception of the truth of that day is different than it was on the day of the event. And a police officer is still dead. That does not change!
If you want to see lies and delusions, I give you religion and politics. In religion it’s, “My invisible guy in the sky can whip your invisible guy in the sky,” while politics poses one political theory against another. This will eventually lead to armies and wars. Then new theories.
Preachers make a lot of hay pounding on Pilate asking, “What is truth?” It was a subjective question. Pilate’s truth was simple. If it didn’t mess with Rome he was cool with it. The very second the Temple priests drew a direct line between fishes and loaves and Roman sovereignty the chariots rolled up, the swords came out and the hills filled up with crosses.
So, what is truth? Truth is what you can sell to a given mark at any given time. People love to connect dots be those dots are in a hole in Palmyra to a hole in your head. If those quarters in Teller’s hand are real to you then that’s your truth. When you discount the impossible whatever is left is “The truth!” Let it be written, let it be done!
