Rainbow Blanket Bingo
. . . contained eight stripes, each a separate color of the rainbow, plus hot pink.” The colors represent sex, life, healing, sunlight, nature, magic and art, serenity and spirit.
This was the description of the Pride flag hoisted by everyone left of conventional sexuality during semi-nude demonstrations and parades around the country. There is a lawsuit going on right now filed by a lifeguard in L.A. who took exception to having to raise this flag on the beach he patrols and/or allow others to display it. And the opinions are many.
So, what is a flag? Why has man flown these banners down through history and why do they evoke such emotion? Put simply, a flag is a statement of identity. “This is who I am, what I stand for, and what I will not stand for! And in order for you to stand for something else, you have to pull down my ‘Stand For’ and put your stand for in its place!”
That’s why it is so symbolic in movies to see a defeated enemy’s flag come down and the winner’s flag go up! And for a Pride Flag to be flown on the same beach where teens once swam and listened to the music of The Beach Boys is the sign of the fall of America!
The Pride Flag doesn’t represent a country. It doesn’t call into memory a rebellion that tore our country apart. It doesn’t even represent a shelter where people can get medical assistance in time of disaster or a war. It praises a deviant lifestyle that perverts, subverts and destroys the minds and souls of practically everyone that subscribes to it. Someone put in that same L.A. article “I think he’s reading an awful lot into a swatch of brightly colored fabric.” Well! I had the same opinion about the Confederate Stars and Bars. I see that as a statement of freedom of speech, and I think it should be flown at every school in America! And soldiers died for that flag. Oh! My bad! It stands against something that you believe! Well, I don’t believe in Trans-sexual teachers discussing the finer points of sodomy with six-year-olds.
But the objection is a religious one. Separation of church and state. Fly a Pride Flag at Salt Lake and see how that works out for you. There are those out there that would be happy to run you up a flagpole. They aren’t all missionaries you know. Now watch! Some publicly seeking gay rights advocates will go out there and do just that to prove me wrong. We need some definitions here. Polygamy is a version of family as religious adherents of the FLDS (Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints) understand it. Interracial marriage is a version of “all men (and women) are equal” according to American law. Sodomy is a PERversion of the accepted sexuality civilized people have accepted all through history. And it’s bad enough to have this lifestyle invading our courthouses (The church and state thing) but now a Rainbow coalition is replacing God, country, and mom’s apple pie with a crap flavored pie! Hell! Why don’t we just do away with the age of consent and have a flag with Dora the Explorer flying at every childcare facility. Explore THAT Dora!
No! The Pride Flag represents a belief. It seeks to degrade American society while all Americans are expected to accept and just look away. It directly attacks the beliefs of practically everyone living in this country from Muslim to Methodist. Well, maybe not Methodists but Baptists now. Yeah, that’s better. Muslims ain’t too cool with it either. They throw proud people off rooftops to see if them fairies can FLY! But that’s between them and Allah. But do you see where this is going? And it’s not down the Rainbow Brick Road. It’s a Green Mile. This will lead to real hate. That 1933 kind of hate with November looming and Queer friends there are more of us than you. And a grassroots fire can easily become a forest fire. When it’s all said and done your survivors will file some lawsuit somewhere. Did someone say, “Tulsa?”
Nobody is saying you can’t live like you wanna live. Just keep your privates private and live! Certain things you keep to yourself. Nobody wants to see you take a dump either. Yes, the lifeguard should keep his religious beliefs to himself and others of his kind. But proud folks should do the same. Nobody wants to know what you believe while you're scoping out bikinis, no matter who’s wearing them. Pride beach blankets. There you go. Hey. . . Rainbow Blanket Bingo. Under the blanket, guys, under the blanket.
