A Personal Letter to My Friend Kent

Kent Franks Don’t believe polls! There are too many incidences where polls clearly predicted a winner and “Dewey Wins!” came back to haunt them. Trump is a cultural phenomenon. Also, never forget that political pendulum I’ve told you about. It never sticks in the middle. It swings right to left and back again. And, and this is a big butt, in my unsolicited opinion a woman president is years, if not decades away. Hillary couldn’t do it and she was a lot more connected than Harris.

I do not agree with Trump’s election fraud stance. A great number of votes are not counted on computers. They are counted by 80!year old Edna and her twin sister at 3 AM. You just know they never missed a vote! And you’re not voting for a candidate anyway. You are voting for electors. They meet in a situation called the Electoral College and vote. If it’s too close the Congress tells you who the President is and they vote right along party lines.

Harris went from Red to Black when she figured there were more Negros than Navajos. A predominantly racist view is people vote along color lines. We are a bit beyond that. Not much, but down the trail some. People vote according to their situation. “Am I better off than I was before?” Everything else is food color.

Yes, Trump is bombastic. He’s from New York. He’s talkin’ heah! But all the wild stories of what he might do? As Jordan Peterson explained from a purely Canadian standpoint, you know what he’ll do by what he did do! What does he center on. Chase all the Mexicans out of Laredo. Hope ya’ll enjoy those $5 cabbages. An enemies list? Hello Richard Nixon. Reward the billionaires? Wake up people. God bless Amerika!

Whoever wins it will not substantially affect any of our lives. Don’t confuse the social with the political with the economic condition of the country. We are a divided country because we’ve always been a divided country. But we’re more alike than we are different. Kent and I have fine grandchildren. Kent and I grew up in the 60’s. No way these kids are as screwed up as we are! Trump is not the answer. Harris is not the answer. We are not the answer. Those kids are the answer. And they will be wrestling with that answer long after we are pushing up home grown tomatoes.
