I Will Never Forget
I will never forget. In all my seventy-three years nothing has affected me as much as the floods of Mystic on July 4, 2025. Nothing can compare to the sounds of screams of little girls as they were aroused from their beds at 3 AM that night. And my eyes will never dry.
While most people recoiled in horror the news services did what they always do. They reported. Then they gave their opinion. Place blame. Blame the emergency services. Blame the director of Mystic. Blame Trump. And then blame God. Well, God was there for them that night. Where were you?
Bad things happen to good people, and who can be better than a little girl at a church camp. Spending the afternoon canoeing on the very river that would come for them that night. And they answered the call and said “Goodbye” to mommy and daddy. They took their place in history and in our hearts as only little girls can do because only the purest of hearts can take Jesus’s hand without hesitation.
And the responders. They knew there was little or no hope of finding a six-year-old little girl after a flash flood washed her from the very bed that she was sleeping in as the entire building rushed down the roaring torrent, but by God they were going to find them and they were going to bring them home!
And the world moveed on. But I didn’t. Witt &Wittier Films is a Faith Based company. When the world hears those words, it thinks that we are just another Bible thumping bunch of religious nuts from Texas, but couldn’t be further wrong! From Kielia finding Christ in her time portal, to Ashley Johnson welcoming Jesus at the Second Coming at Immigration Pass in Utah to Karly’s swift justice upon traffickers, we speak to the kids, and those kids baptized us in fire the night of July 4!
Even as I write this, my glasses continue to fog up from the tears, and I’m forced to stop, wipe my eyes, gather myself, and continue. I can see them standing all about me. And for all the books, songs, and articles that I have written I know that I have to do this one thing just right because I’m not worthy to undo the laces of their boots. Men are always looking for “The love of their life.” Well, I have twenty-seven! The purest, sweetest little ladies who ever ate ice cream at Dairy Queen. Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to play a small part of sharing their story, but I will never forget.
The good news is most of not all are now being comforted by their heavenly father. Those of us that remain don’t have all the answers, but we do have to deal with the pain. I pray the comforter be with you
ReplyDeleteThis has profoundly affected me. Not in depression. In determination. Don’t fall in the ugly night of death, rise in the celebration of life. These girls did more in their short lives than I will ever do.
