HOW CHRISTIAN EVANGELICALISM THREATENS AMERICA’S BELIEF IN GOD

By Ted

Though America has become a thoroughly divided, and therefore conquered nation, there is one thing that we can all agree upon, and that is, as a people, we have lost our way!

Another thing we all seem to agree on is that the reason for this is the loss of our government’s legitimacy. As long as we could feed and house our families, as long as there was a way forward, we could live together with the shared purpose of building a better world for future generations.

What we all seem to disagree upon is the why of the loss of that most necessary element of faith, legitimacy. In America there are two basic elements that our divided society has formed around: religion and secularism. Both elements face utter destruction if their adherents do not wake up and fight, and I do mean fight, for the reformation of the thing that they now follow through blind faith. I say blind, because both peoples can plainly see that neither of these elements are functioning in a sustainable way. Secularism and religion teeter on the brink my friends, and it is creating fear and hatred that has paralyzed our country! Since this is an article about Evangelicals, I will sum up the loss delegitimization of secularism with a few pointed words.

Simply put, the government, in all its forms and persons, has broken the social contract. Yep, they crapped on page nine folks, and screwed the pooch until she had puppies. The legitimacy of our government is rooted in its ability to protect our rights to life, liberty and property. The pursuit of happiness got a tad out of control so they replaced it like the Catholics did the second commandment. Anyway, in this age of legalized bribery, our government provides none of that. The game has been so thoroughly rigged that it’s a given thing that whoever is on the ballot of any given race in any given place, at any given time is someone you wouldn’t vote for on a bet. With any odds.  Trump supporters wouldn’t support Trump, except for the fact that their other choice is some vulgar bit of scum like Hillary or Joe.

Biden voters will only do so because they know that Trump will finish the job that Reagan started and every other president ramped up since this new age started; namely, the end of democracy for good; they would rather kick the can down the road four more years, and hope that a Sherrod Brown, or his like will appear magically on the ballot. So, there we are, damned if you do, and damned if you don’t. I myself am a secular man who believes in and follows Jesus, but I don’t think He will save us, and I know that, as long as we are content to be slaves, our government will continue to fail us, until it collapses under the weight of the Hegemony.

So, on to the Evangelicals! Why are they a present threat to the God they so blindly follow. It might be good to start with the social purpose of religion. Religion has given people rules to live by that allow us to live and work together in relative safety and harmony; it does this by creating a legitimacy for itself that is founded on the principle of a higher power. Practically speaking, that is God for most of us. This God must have the power to both hurt us, and to help us; otherwise, why follow the rules? It also follows that God must have created us, lending him (let’s not quibble over gender here, we all know who daddy is) a paternalistic authority. Pretty simple isn’t it, and handy too. Throughout my lifetime I have been tolerant of most religions, even though their followers seem to get awfully confused about what their religious writings say. No other religion seems to embody this sense of disorientation quite like the Evangelical Christians. I know for a fact that most people are daydreaming or sleeping when they are in school, especially Sunday school. I also know for a fact that most people who say they have read the Bible, have only read at it.  Furthermore, those who have, lack the critical thinking skills to understand, or connect the dots when they do make occasional forays into the Bible; if they did, why on earth would they blindly follow the rule of observing a sabbath, especially on Sunday, which is God’s Day off? The sabbath was given to the Jews, not the gentiles; its in the Bible! Deuteronomy 5:15. It’s a commandment to the Jews, by God, to remind them that he brought them out of Egypt. I could go on and on, but I won’t, because of the next point, which is, also, in the Bible. It was a part of the Old Testament law, which Jesus came to free the people of. Therefore, to teach a man to keep the sabbath in this day and age, is to put him back into bondage.

Let us sing!

Most importantly though Revelation 6:18 makes it perfectly clear that church believers here on earth aren’t mentioned because “we are gone, we have been raptured.”

As I said earlier, I am, by nature, tolerant of the beliefs of others, but this business of cherry picking a verse out of a book of ancient Hebrew history, and mixing it with chopped up doggerel from the New Testament, our book of law, is in essence weaponizing the word of God to separate us Christians by making us fear and hate one another. It also encourages a kind of lazy, shiftless type of Christian who mistakenly believes that if they confess their sins before God and man, and are afterwards baptized, will be granted access to heaven! What? The Bible, both old and new make it pretty clear that you will be subject to judgement, by God, on the day of judgement. These people who are actually on their knees praying for something that I am certain in my heart that Jesus would abhor, are destroying the fabric of America and our faith in God. Why not set aside our internecine quibbles, and start talking to one another with empathy and civility? Why not build one unified society that might stand a chance of using the remnants of our democracy that we might preserve our constitution, and work toward power going where it belongs; to the people that must live under the purest law that has ever been? Why not commit your life to Christ, and follow him to heaven? The way is right there in the NEW Testament. Forget the rapture, it happened a long time ago, and please try to remember that God has a divine plan that will unfold in time, as it very well should!
