Forward to the New Old Days
Audio articles took my fancy about two weeks ago. Nothing fancy. I came upon this idea of putting my iPhone next to my iPad and upon finding a very pleasant female voice I went to Word, called up an article and let the lady read it into iMovie on the iPad. Nothing fancy, just straight out. Her voice was quite clear. Slightly high, which was good. Older people often have difficulty understanding words. Having just one voice wasn’t bad. Audiobooks thinks it’s good, so who am I, right? For me, the whole idea is to make the articles accessible.
I even did a “motion” film for one but settled on just two or three still shots as a norm. My idea was to push the literature not try to make a film. Sometimes she would mispronounce but when she did I’d resort to phonetics to get the word I wanted. For instance, taking the word “Bijou” and making it Bye You. The published article would, of course, contain the correct spelling.
I did the transfers on my porch so there are wonderful bird sounds here and there. This is fast becoming an audio book! I look forward to doing this a lot. It’s quite easy, actually. Not like cutting a record where if someone coughs you have to start over.
I hope you enjoy this. The unpretentious nature makes it an uninhibited way of communication. The world needs more of that.
